Clara and Eduard Rosenthal Scholarships

The Villa Rosenthal offers accommodations and working possibilities to two scholarship holders in the fields of fine arts and literature.

The scholarships in the field of fine arts were last allocated in March 2012. The current scholarship holder is the conceptual artist Rolf Giegold. The works developing during his residency in Jena will be on display in the Villa Rosenthal at the turn of the year.

The public invitation to tender for the Clara-and-Eduard-Rosenthal-Scholarship in the field of fine arts will next be announced in autumn 2013.


The current scholarship holder for literature is the Potsdam based author Vera Kissel. For the time of her residency in Jena, she is planning to work on a theatre project inspired by the life of the young Clemens Brentano.

The next Clara and Eduard Rosenthal Scholarships in the field of literature will be allocated in September 2012.
